38:43

And We granted[to] himhis familyand a like of themwith thema Mercyfrom Usand a Reminderfor those of understandingfor those of understanding

And We gave him back his family, twice as many, as a mercy from Us and a lesson for people of reason.

38:44

And takein your handa bunchand strikewith itand (do) notﱒﱓbreak (your) oathIndeed, We[We] found himﱖﱗpatientan excellentslaveIndeed, herepeatedly turned

˹And We said to him,˺ “Take in your hand a bundle of grass, and strike ˹your wife˺ with it, and do not break your oath.” We truly found him patient. What an excellent servant ˹he was˺! Indeed, he ˹constantly˺ turned ˹to Allah˺.

38:45

And rememberOur slavesIbrahimand Isaacand Yaqubpossessors(of) strengthand vision

And remember Our servants: Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob—the men of strength and insight.

38:46

Indeed, We[We] chose themfor an exclusive (quality)remembrance(of) the Home

We truly chose them for the honour of proclaiming the Hereafter.

38:47

And indeed, theyto Us(are) fromthe chosen onesthe best

And in Our sight they are truly among the chosen and the finest.

38:48

And rememberIshmaeland Elishaand Dhul-kiflﱶﱷand Dhul-kifland all(are) fromthe best

Also remember Ishmael, Elisha, and Ⱬul-Kifl. All are among the best.

38:49

Thisﱽﱾ(is) a ReminderﱿAnd indeedfor the righteoussurely, is a goodplace of return

This is ˹all˺ a reminder. And the righteous will certainly have an honourable destination:

38:50

Gardens(of) Eternity(will be) openedfor themthe gates

the Gardens of Eternity, whose gates will be open for them.

38:51

Recliningthereinthey will callthereinfor fruitmanyand drink

There they will recline, calling for abundant fruit and drink.

38:52

ﲒ ﲓAnd with them(will be) companions of modest gaze(will be) companions of modest gazewell-matched

And with them will be maidens of modest gaze and equal age.

38:53

This(is) whatyou are promisedfor (the) Day(of) Account

This is what you are promised for the Day of Reckoning.

38:54

Indeedthis(is) surely Our provisionnotfor itanydepletion

This is indeed Our provision that will never end.

38:55

ﲦﲧThis (is so)And indeedfor the transgressorssurely (is) an evilplace of return

That is that. And the transgressors will certainly have the worst destination:

38:56

Hellthey will burn thereinand wretched (is)the resting place

Hell, where they will burn. What an evil place to rest!

38:57

This (is so)Then let them taste itboiling fluidand purulence

Let them then taste this: boiling water and ˹oozing˺ pus,

38:58

And otherofits type(of various) kinds

and other torments of the same sort!

38:59

This(is) a companyburstingﲿ(in) with youNowelcomeﳂﳃfor themIndeed, they(will) burn(in) the Fire

˹The misleaders will say to one another,˺ “Here is a crowd ˹of followers˺ being thrown in with us. They are not welcome, ˹for˺ they ˹too˺ will burn in the Fire.”

38:60

They sayNayYou nowelcomeﳍﳎfor youYoubrought thisﳑﳒupon usSo wretched (is)the settlement

The followers will respond, “No! You are not welcome! You brought this upon us. What an evil place for settlement!”

38:61

They will sayOur Lordwhoeverbroughtupon usthisincrease for hima punishmentdoubleinthe Fire

Adding, “Our Lord! Whoever brought this upon us, double their punishment in the Fire.”
